Review: Stubbing Wharf – Hebden Bridge

After a morning in a horse drawn barge we arrived at Stubbing Wharf, where the lovely little pub of the same name sits.

A quick glance through the very ‘pub grub’ focused menu and we both decided on the ‘home prepared 100% beef burger’. I had cheese and onions on mine, Mr had cheese and mushrooms. Both came with chunky chips and a salad. A bargain at just £8.75 each.

The chips were really good, the bun great, it held up well and did not fall apart. The burger itself did not deliver, it tasted as if it was mass produced (sorry if it is made on site) the texture was dense and overly compacted, the seasoning lacking. We were both ravenous though, so polished them off, it was not terrible, just a bit of a let down when we were expecting a gorgeous home made burger.

We’d go back again, but probably just for drinks and a sandwich or some of those lovely chips.
